El Julio, whose real name is Julien Jonneau Lais, is a Marseille-based graphic designer and illustrator. He began graffiti in 1993, inspired by hip hop culture which has influenced him since adolescence. Trained as an illustrator and graphic artist, he collaborates with prestigious brands such as Adidas, Sun Valley, Ed Hardy, and IKKS. His work in the music industry is particularly recognized for festival artworks and album covers (Jazz à Vialas, Al Iman Staff, HHP, Popo Chanel, Sam Favreau Funkestra).
He created Figure de Poulpe, a clothing and accessories brand that is 100% Marseille and celebrates the soul of Marseille with humor, self-mockery, and boldness. His creations blend influences from graffiti, street art, and pop art, with the human element at the center of his concerns. El Julio cultivates the values of hip hop culture, driven by soul, jazz, rap, and funk music, in each of his works.
